Digital City, Houdini digital asset, Lighting and Rendering

There are many ways to make a digital city as a background in a shot, why I chose houdini is, firstly because it is blazing fast in rendering of hundreds of buildings without dealing with splitting and layering shots to small pieces, secondly I wanted to learn more about new ways:) thirdly now I have a tool (Houdini digital asset) to make a city ready to be used in many other projects and can be customized to fit into other pipeline.


This video demonstrates some function of this city digital asset.
Software: Houdini for making the city and lighting and rendering.
Maya: for modeling and texturing of buildings.


This shot is commissioned by SIMAFILM to be used for opener of a documentary film and I was responsible to create and complete everything in this video.
